NBA insider Shams Charania was so bored during quarantine that he decided to crash the 2020 NFL Draft by breaking some cross-sport news.

We’ve all felt the hunger pangs for our favorite sports at some point during quarantine. Apparently even NBA insider Shams Charania is not immune to the boredom of not having basketball on a daily basis, because he spent his Thursday night crashing the 2020 NFL Draft by breaking draft news before football’s beat writers even could.

The Athletic and Stadium journalist is known for going toe-to-toe with ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on the breaking news front in the NBA, but with the first round of the NFL Draft being held virtually this year, and apparently nothing better to do, the 26-year-old Charania decided to start cross-sport flexing on the rest of the media landscape.

It started with the highly anticipated fifth overall pick, when the Miami Dolphins were on the clock with quarterbacks Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert still on the board. While Twitter waited to hear from ESPN’s Adam Schefter or NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, it was Charania who came in from out of nowhere to report the pick was Tua.

He even topped it off with the “NBA boredom” flex right off the bat:

All right, so one move from the top rope is impressive, but it’s not that big a deal. After all, a lot of these NBA and NFL players are represented by the same agents.

But jokes >>> facts, and Charania wasn’t done, dropping another “Shams-Wow” just a few picks later when he broke the news that the New York Jets would be drafting Louisville’s Mekhi Becton with the 11th overall pick.

Two NFL Draft reports from an NBA guy, two eagerly awaited picks, two exceptional references serving as flexes, this time dropping the “bored in the house, in the house bored” line:

Not long after, he also came through with the news Javon Kinlaw would be the 14th overall pick to the San Francisco 49ers, dubbing it as “quarantined activities”:

The NBA is great about owning its biggest nights on the calendar and it usually commands attention thanks to the personalities of its stars, but with no NBA basketball to enjoy and the NFL Draft serving as one of our last live sports events for the foreseeable future, now even the NBA beat guys are trying to crash other sports’ parties.
