2. Henry Ruggs III, Raiders

The Raiders made something of a surprise when they drafted Henry Ruggs III first among all the wide receivers. It’s being called a pick that reminds them of a time when Al Davis was still running the team. Ruggs has blazing speed (4.27 40-yard dash), and he finds a way to use it on the football field.

The Oakland Raiders, whoops, the Las Vegas Raiders are looking to find superstars for their new home. Ruggs is looking to catch passes from Derek Carr. If Carr wants to keep this job long-term, or even short-term (they did sign Marcus Mariota for a reason this offseason), then he needs to hit Ruggs early and often this season. He might even force the ball to Ruggs here and there.

Ruggs is going to be able to run past some cornerbacks, and he’s going to be ready for multiple 20-point games if things fall his way. We expect the opportunities to be fruitful for Ruggs, who only really has Tyrell Williams, Hunter Renfrow and Nelson Agholor to compete with. They are fine players, but Ruggs could easily be the No. 1 on this team very. very quickly.

Ruggs has blazing speed, but that’s not why he’s here. He’s on this list because of the opportunity staring him in the face. Carr is going to throw deep to him, and even if he misses sometimes, at least Ruggs can run into the ball every so often and grab a 50-yard score.
