Will the Packers trade Aaron Rodgers? These 5 teams should send a trade offer ASAP
2. Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders want so badly to move on from Derek Carr, it’s only a matter of when it makes sense for Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden to do it. They may yet take a quarterback in this year’s draft, paving the way to part with Carr more easily next offseason. It’s become unlikely at this point, but a no-risk signing of either Cam Newton or Jameis Winston might land on the radar in Vegas at some point.
The Raiders drafted Alabama wide receiver Henry Ruggs III 12th overall. That makes Tyrell Williams, a notable free agent signing last offseason who had an injury-marred first season with the team, a repetitive skill set as primarily a downfield threat. It just so happens they can clear his entire $11.1 million cap hit this year by trading him, with no dead money. Trading Carr would clear $16.5 million, with a $5 million dead money.
The Raiders were also a rumored suitor for Brady, though it never seemed like they were a likely landing spot. Rodgers would be a nice consolation prize at a later stage in the offseason if they can make the finances work.
