1. New England Patriots
Bill Belichick has no concerns about his job security. But do you really think he’ll willingly go into the season with Jarrett Stidham as his locked-in starting quarterback, and Brian Hoyer next up on the depth chart? It seems certain the Patriots will draft a quarterback, perhaps Jake Fromm or Jalen Hurts in the second or third round. A more urgent, theoretically more ready-made option (Cam Newton? Andy Dalton?) might land on the radar in New England after the draft.
Speculation about a Rodgers-Belichick marriage was almost too easy after the Packers drafted Love.
The Patriots are up against the salary cap ($1.229 million in space). So they would have to send some significant salary back to Green Bay to make room for Rodgers, and some other maneuvering/restructuring will probably have to happen.
The Packers surely aren’t inclined to move Rodgers immediately and it’s unlikely he will demand a trade right now. But it’s still interesting to speculate on where he might land and if/when the time does come for Rodgers to finish his career elsewhere he will have multiple interesting options.
