The New Orleans Saints nailed their 2020 NFL Draft class, and only needed three picks to make it happen.

24. player. 811. Scouting Report. C. Michigan. Cesar Ruiz. Pick Analysis

New Orleans is trying to win a Super Bowl this year, full stop.

After three years of heartbreak that grew more bizarre as it continued to happen, the Saints need to win it all. To wash the bitter taste of the Minneapolis Miracle or NFC Championship non-call out of their mouths, to prove that they’re more than just the best team in the league on paper, and to give Drew Brees the legendary sendoff he deserves.

Emphasis on that last bit. Life after Drew Brees is coming, and it’s fair to start wondering what that life will look like? New England seems about to fall into a crater that other dynasties do when they splinter, and while the Saints don’t have dynastical hardware they’ve been as close as it comes over the last decade.

Cesar Ruiz is the type of stellar talent who can bridge two eras in Saints history. He has Pro Bowler written all over him, can play center or guard, and will protect Drew Brees in his final season and then get even better for whoever succeeds him. He’s an anchor for the Saints offensive line and will be a critical piece of their future.
