Cleveland Browns NFL Draft grades: What you talking about, Jedrick Wills Jr.?
By John Buhler
Fourth Round
The Browns just love tight ends apparently, as they drafted the 2019 John Mackey winner Harrison Bryant out of Florida Atlantic. He’s an excellent player, but the Browns just paid former Atlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper out the wazoo. This has to mean it’s the end of the line for David Njoku with the Browns in 2020. Bryant’s arrival means he’s not coming back.
Fifth Round
Cleveland was able to get back into the fifth round in a deal with the Indianapolis Colts. This is the pick the Browns got from the Colts by moving down from No. 41 to No. 44. The Browns opt to go with an interior offensive lineman in the form of Washington Huskies center Nick Harris. Cleveland has prioritized rebuilding its offensive line tremendously this offseason.
Sixth Round
The Browns get this pick from the Arizona Cardinals in a deal for cornerback Jamar Taylor. Cleveland gets a wide receiver talent who dropped a few rounds further than expected in Donovan Peoples-Jones out of Michigan. As one of the better receivers to play for Jim Harbaugh at Michigan, look for him to battle for playing time as a rookie in Kevin Stefanski’s offensive system.
Seventh Round
Cleveland did not have a seventh-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. They traded what became the No. 224 overall pick to the Tennessee Titans for wide receiver Taywan Taylor ahead of last season. Cleveland also dealt the No. 244 overall pick they inherited from the Green Bay Packers to New Orleans Saints for the No. 88 overall pick this year and a 2021 third-round selection.
