Green Bay Packers 2020 NFL Draft grades: Trade up for Jordan Love a stunner
The Packers have one of the most interesting first two rounds. AJ Dillon was a power runner at Boston College where he was an All-ACC running back the last three years. He leaves Boston College with basically every meaningful rushing record.
He’s a workhorse who can shoulder a heavy workload at nearly 250-pounds, but that may bring back some memories of Eddie Lacy who had weight issues in Green Bay which led to his demise in Green Bay and the NFL. But Dillon can play a complementary role to Aaron Jones who had a breakout season last year and was one of the top backs in the NFL.
Adding Dillon to the backfield could lighten the load for Jones and keep him fresh throughout the season and make sure he’s not carrying a lot of the tough yards near the goal line and in short-yardage situations. Dillon has a lot of tread on his tires after 845 carries in college and he brings nothing to the passing game. It may not be the best value, but Dillon is a capable rusher.
