Las Vegas Raiders

Yes, the Raiders got better in the draft. Also, yes, they got talented players in the room. But, it feels like Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock reached. Especially early.

Henry Ruggs III is explosive and he will be good in the NFL. But taking him over CeeDee Lamb and  Jerry Jeudy seems like a stretch. Also, Damon Arnette at 19 felt premature as well.

Gruden and Mayock sort of made up for their Day 1 during Day’s 2 and 3, especially with Lynn Bowden and Bryan Edwards. Drafting guard John Simpson and cornerback Amik Robertson were both good value picks in the fourth round as well.

The offense for the Raiders is full of home run hitters, which will excite team quarterback  Derek Carr.

After spending draft capital on defense in the last draft, Mayock went offense this year.

New England Patriots

Everyone had their eyes locked on the New England Patriots this draft. What would Bill Belichick do? Would they draft a quarterback?

In pure Belichick fashion, he went against all common beliefs. He traded out of the first round, drafted a division two-player with pick 37, and drafted a kicker in the fifth round.

Kyle Dugger, the division two selection, has a lot of potential to be a good NFL player.

Belichick went defense again with linebackers Josh Uche and Anfernee Jennings. Then, he took two tight ends later in Day 2.

No quarterback taken early was a bit surprising, but Belichick filled a lot of holes with his picks, especially on defense.
