1. Aaron Donald won’t get double-digit sacks

Donald is arguably the most disruptive defensive lineman in the NFL. That doesn’t mean he can generate a consistent pass rush by himself. The loss of talent around him will start to take a toll on Donald’s production in 2020.

He’ll still be a fierce defender, but look for him to narrowly miss out on producing double-digit sacks. A total of eight or nine seems more reasonable for Donald this year.

Specifically, the loss of Fowler on the edge is going to make it easier for teams to double- or even triple-team Donald on obvious passing downs. That might help someone like Michael Brokers have a career year, but opposing offensive coordinators are going to make sure that Donald doesn’t wreck their plans on third down.

The lack of sacks could cause some critics to start taking shots at Donald. Don’t buy into that narrative. His game isn’t going to slip, but the talent around him will. It’s not going to be a banner year for the best defensive lineman in football.
