5 predictions to bank on for the New York Giants in 2020
2. The losses come, but the embarrassment ends
During his introductory press conference in January, Joe Judge won the fans with his direct and stern speech. A lot of football talk.
There is no denying that Judge appears to have a far different mantra then Shurmur and Ben McAdoo. Those two seemed more “happy to be here”, Judge looks ready to build a roster.
The leaves that have fallen off the Bill Belichick coaching tree have not fallen into winning ways. Most have flopped, and Judge will have a lot of eyes on him as the most recent leaf to snap off of the tree.
No, it wouldn’t be fair to say, “Judge is the one to be successful.” However, Judge looks ready to change the culture around a losing team.
The Giants will lose a lot of games once again in 2020. The roster will be better and more experienced. But, the schedule is hard and the top of the division is heavy.
What Judge can do is change that message and instill discipline. Having a bad but disciplined football team is much different than simply having an all-around bad team. Why? If you’re disciplined and losing, at least you aren’t beating yourself.
Often times, the Giants beat themselves in 2019. Specifically, against the Cardinals and Bears. Losing gracefully is not real. Although, losing close games and executing in those games allows for progress to be made and momentum to be gained.
