5 players who Bills need to be great in 2020
2. Stefon Diggs
Not many skill players have been thrilled to land in Buffalo over the years, but Diggs should prove to be the exception to that rule. He’s ecstatic to get out of Minnesota. Now it’s time for him to prove that he can be the No. 1 wide receiver without the support of a partner like Adam Thielen.
He will have huge expectations right away with the Bills. Josh Allen isn’t the most accurate passer in the NFL, but he’s got the arm strength to push the ball way down the field. Expect to see Diggs run a ton of go routes until he truly learns the nuances of McDermott’s offense.
His impact on the Bills offense won’t be felt just by looking at Diggs’ final stat line. He’s going to open up a ton of space for others. Guys like John Brown, Knox and Cole Beasley could easily have career years just by taking advantage of the attention opposing defenses pay to Diggs.
That doesn’t mean Diggs doesn’t need to produce big numbers on his own. He needs to finish somewhere north of 1,250 yards receiving to justify what the Bills gave up to acquire him. He’s got more than enough talent to make that happen, he just needs to gel with Allen sooner rather than later.
