NFL quarterback power rankings: NFC East edition
In the NFC East, two teams have veterans, while the other two have young signal callers adjusting to the next level. Who is the number-one ranked quarterback?
The NFC East once had some of the best quarterbacks in the NFL playing in the same division. Tony Romo was in Dallas, Eli Manning was hoisting the Lombardi for the Giants, and Donovan McNabb was navigating the Eagles through some golden years.
Combined, those three accounted for 14 Pro Bowl selections, two Super Bowls and Super Bowl MVP awards, and one Walter Payton Man of the Year honoree.
For the Redskins, they have cycled through many signal callers such as Jason Campbell, McNabb, Rex Grossman, Robert Griffin III, Kirk Cousins, Alex Smith and even Mark Sanchez.
Now, each of those teams think they have the future under center for them. Jerry Jones has Dak Prescott, Joe Judge will work with second-year quarterback Daniel Jones, Doug Pederson has won with Carson Wentz, and Ron Rivera will look to make Dwayne Haskins into an NFL starter.
What are the quarterback power rankings for the NFC East?
4. Washington Redskins
Dwayne Haskins: 2019- 1,365 yards, 7 Total TD, 7 INT.
Dwayne Haskins was not ready for the NFL when former head coach Jay Gruden threw him in. In his first action, he threw three interceptions against the New York Giants after coming in to relieve Case Keenum.
Then, Haskins didn’t play for a few weeks before he took the starting duty.
Haskins has the talent to be an NFL starter. However, it appeared Gruden did not ready his rookie quarterback last season. Interim head coach Bill Callahan gave Haskins a chance to start as the season progressed.
In his final six games, Haskins flashed some of that potential. He threw for 1,081 yards with seven scores and three interceptions. He was sacked 21 times and completed just under 58 percent of his throws.
Ron Rivera is the new head coach for the Redskins. Haskins is going to get a chance to win the starting job, but Rivera did trade for one of his former quarterbacks with the Panthers, Kyle Allen.
Haskins was raw last year. In year two, he can prove a lot with some confidence from his head coach.
