NFL quarterback power rankings: NFC East edition
1. Dallas Cowboys
Dak Prescott: 2019- 4,902 yards, 33 Total TD, 11 INT.
As discussed in the last slide, deciding who to put number-one between Dak Prescott and Wentz was tough. Both gunslingers have been connected since the 2016 NFL Draft, and both career stats are similar.
Both have thrown exactly 97 scores, and Prescott has one more interception thrown than Wentz.
However, this is where Prescott is better. He has more passing yards and a higher completion percentage, as well as more fourth-quarter comebacks and game-winning drives.
As a rusher, Prescott has immense value too. He has 21 career rushing scores and 1,221 rushing yards. Wentz has three rushing touchdowns and 785 rushing yards.
Prescott also carries a higher quarterback rating and his career AV is much greater.
AV is a stat used on pro-football reference.com, which is designed to basically attach a value to a player’s season. The higher the number the better.
Wentz has a career AV of 45, whereas Prescott has 60. Prescott has had an AV of 14+ every season, and Wentz has one such season like that. Yes, this is not a full-proof stat by any means, and Wentz has missed eight career games.
Regardless, Prescott gets the upper hand right now. He has never missed a game in his four-year career, and he has shown improvements every season. Especially under Kellen Moore.
Prescott posted career-highs in passing yards (4,902) and passing scores (30) last year. In year two with Moore, and under a new head coach in Mike McCarthy, he can do big things with a lot of capable playmakers around him.
Right now, Prescott is the top ranked quarterback in the NFC East. Wentz is close though, and things can change after this season.
