1. Jacksonville Jaguars

There are a few contenders for teams that need to land a franchise quarterback, but no team needs a fresh start quite like the Jacksonville Jaguars. After watching the Blake Bortles era go up in flames, Jacksonville made a big bet on Nick Foles that backfired once he broke his collarbone in Week 1 of the 2019 season.

The Jaguars ended up going with Gardner Minshew, who is expected to be the starter this season, but the rest of their roster has suffered significantly. The team’s one-time elite defense has fallen on hard times with the exodus of players like Jalen Ramsey, A.J. Buoye, and Calais Campbell due to salary cap considerations.

The AFC South is also a very tough division featuring two playoff teams and a much-improved Indianapolis Colts squad. The Jaguars are pretty much guaranteed to finish in last place, so they should embrace their fate and take a complete dive to ensure they land Trevor Lawrence.

Ticket sales are a big concern for the Jaguars, so getting a marquee talent like Lawrence could be a big step towards saving the franchise’s viability in Jacksonville. There isn’t a team in the NFL that could use Lawrence more than Jacksonville, so they should embrace tanking for the 2020 season to ensure they land their man.
