It is a new era of Carolina Panthers’ football as Matt Rhule looks to Teddy Bridgewater to rebuild the franchise in 2020.

There aren’t many franchises that underwent more significant cultural changes than the ones the Carolina Panthers experienced last season. Long-time head coach Ron Rivera was fired in the middle of the season, quarterback Cam Newton was released, and middle linebacker Luke Kuechly retired after 2019.

Those three moves signaled the start of a new era in Panthers’ football, which they began by giving Baylor coach Matt Rhule a seven-year deal worth $62 million to rebuild Carolina from the ground up. The Panthers also went out and spent big bucks in free agency to land a new starting quarterback in Teddy Bridgewater.

The cupboard isn’t exactly bare for Bridgewater, who inherits the NFL’s most dynamic running back in Christian McCaffrey and a top-flight receiver in D.J. Moore. Carolina added a deep threat by signing Robby Anderson to a two-year deal worth $20 million, giving Bridgewater all the tools he needs to manage a winning offense.

Rhule has also emphasized a rebuild of the Carolina defense, spending all seven of the team’s draft picks on defensive players. That marked the first time in modern draft history that a team devoted all of its draft capital to one side of the ball and it made sense considering the defensive issues the Panthers had last season.

Carolina will have its work cut out for them in a brutal NFC South filled with star quarterbacks like Drew Brees, Matt Ryan, and Tom Brady. Games against the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, and Kansas City Chiefs should provide plenty of challenges for Rhule’s squad in year one.

When the full 2020 NFL schedule is released this post will be updated immediately with game dates, times and broadcast information. In the meantime, let’s take a look at the home and road opponents for the Panthers this season.
