Jacksonville Jaguars 2020 schedule release: Games, dates and times
What will the Jacksonville Jaguars 2020 schedule look like? Here’s what we know about the teams’ slate for the upcoming season.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are in the midst of a rebuilding project, so their 2020 schedule will be full of opportunities for Gardner Minshew to prove he is a franchise quarterback.
Some fans joke that NFL actually stands for Not For Long, and there isn’t a franchise that better epitomizes that than the Jacksonville Jaguars. Just three years ago Jacksonville was leading the New England Patriots in the final minutes of the AFC Championship Game, collapsing and costing themselves a trip to Super Bowl LII.
The Jaguars have completely imploded since then, sinking back to the basement of the AFC South and shipping out most of the key members of the Sacksonville defense that got them to the postseason. The quarterback position has also been a revolving door, with Blake Bortles giving way to a disastrous Nick Foles experiment and ending up in the hands of rookie Gardner Minshew.
Jaguars’ fans gravitated towards Minshew for his fun style of play and incredible mustache, but he did show some promise throughout the season. Foles ended up getting traded to the Chicago Bears in the offseason, handing the starting gig to Minshew for the 2020 season.
Minshew has his work cut out for him on an offense that features few reliable weapons outside of Leonard Fournette. It is fair to question if Minshew is a one-year wonder, leading to speculation that Jacksonville is going to consider tanking this season for a shot at Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence, one of the most hyped quarterback prospects in years.
The poor state of the Jaguars’ roster will likely lead to the bare minimum in nationally televised games, although it is worth noting that two of their home dates are scheduled to be played in London this season. That could be subject to change as a result of international travel concerns amidst the coronavirus pandemic, but even if all eight home dates are in Jacksonville there shouldn’t be a ton of national exposure for the Jaguars.
Once the full NFL schedule is released, we will update this post immediately with game dates, times, and broadcast information. In the meantime, let’s take a look at the 2020 home and road opponents for the Jaguars.
