Pick Analysis. Central. Chicago White Sox. 2020 Realignment Division. 3. player. 128. Scouting Report

The White Sox haven’t made the postseason since 2008 and have been irrelevant for years. However, with a robust crop of young talent along with the additions of Yasmani Grandal, Dallas Keuchel, Gio Gonzalez, Edwin Encarnacion, Nomar Mazara, and Steve Cishek this past offseason, the White Sox were in prime position to take a big step forward this year.

When trying to put the finishing touches on a rebuild, it’s not just important to get the players on the field you need to win. You also need to rejuvenate the fan base. What better way to do that than to put them in the same division as the crosstown rival Cubs?

The Cubs have owned Chicago for several years, but that superiority was in question coming into this season. Intradivisional Cubs-White Sox games would generate a ton of interest among Chicago baseball fans, especially on the South Side. Even if fans couldn’t attend games, assuming both teams are good, the games could attract massive TV audiences. Just imagine if these two teams got into a pennant race together.

But it’s not just about the Cubs. The White Sox, in addition to their traditional AL Central rivals, could generate some great rivalries with the nearby Brewers and Cardinals as well.

This plan would present a huge opportunity for the White Sox to make a name for themselves. As they’d be in a division that features several potential mediocre-to-good teams, if they can play well against a group of teams that appear to be of similar caliber on paper, that would be a huge step forward in their rebuild and get their young talent a lot of needed major league experience.
