Buffalo Bills: vs. New England Patriots

Tom Brady’s decision to go from New England to Tampa Bay has created ripple effects across the NFL, but the biggest change comes in the AFC East. The Patriots have lorded over that division for years, but Brady’s departure gives the other three teams a chance to take down the champs.

The squad best positioned to do that is the Buffalo Bills, which has made the postseason in two of the last three years. Buffalo has an ascending quarterback in Josh Allen and has done a good job surrounding him with weapons like Stefon Diggs, who they acquired from the Minnesota Vikings for four draft picks.

Last season came to a bitterly disappointing end for Buffalo, which blew a 16-0 lead to drop a Wild Card round game in Houston. Allen played a significant role in that collapse, and overcoming those kinds of lapses is much more difficult on the road.

Buffalo has not hosted a playoff game since 1996, so they would love to reclaim the AFC East crown and bring playoff football back to Orchard Park. Doing so will require wins over the Patriots, who still appear to be the biggest challenger to the Bills in the division.

Even though Brady is gone Bill Belichick is still around, and he has taken particular joy in beating up the Bills over the years. Topping the Patriots would take a huge monkey off the Bills’ back, so getting a win over them at home is a key first step towards a division title.
