Dallas Cowboys 2020 schedule predictions: Picking every game
Weeks 13-16
Joe Burrow will be under center for the Bengals this season. Management did a nice job of adding to the roster to benefit Burrow, but the Bengals will struggle in 2020. Yes, when you have a quarterback of Burrow’s ability anything can happen. But, expect growing pains for the young signal-caller as a rookie. On the road, the Cowboys will win this game on the back of a strong defensive display. Yes, the offense will score points, but the defense will force the Bengals out of possession all game.
This will be a measuring stick game for the Cowboys. How close to contending are they? Can they compete with the best in the NFC? Last season, the 49ers marched all the way to the Super Bowl. In fact, they had the Super Bowl in their grasp but relinquished the lead late to the Kansas City Chiefs. Recharged for 2020, with additions to the roster, the 49ers will not be much different. The rushing attack mixed with play-action and those funky Kyle Shanahan formations will give Mike Nolan fits all day. One of these teams is built for a Super Bowl, while the other is still about a year away.
These two teams split the season series in 2019, with both winning at home. For Garrett, the final matchup with the Eagles was his final undoing. In what was essentially a winner takes all for the NFC East division title, the Eagles beat the Cowboys 17-9.
This matchup will resemble more of the first head-to-head between these two last season. Prescott marched the offense up and down the field all game, scoring 37 points. Doug Pederson will have a healthier team in 2020, and one with more depth in key positions. However, this Cowboys offense has the potential to cause mayhem. Philadelphia will play it to a one-possession game but get no closer than that.
Dec. 11, 2016, was the last time the Giants defeated the Cowboys. In fact, that season, the Giants took both contests against this division rival. Since then, the Cowboys have won six in a row. In 2020, they will tally two more wins to that streak and make it eight consecutive wins against the Giants. The Giants are a few years away from really considering themselves contenders. Joe Judge and Dave Gettleman will have a youthful roster to work with this season, which will mean the campaign will go much as last year. Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley and a better offensive line will be helpful, but the defense is still developing. This will be another win for the Cowboys, and another 30-plus point performance.
