Andy Dalton likely won’t be starting for the Dallas Cowboys in 2020, but there are teams he could definitely start for in 2021.

After nine years with the Cincinnati Bengals, Andy Dalton is a Dallas Cowboy now. He signed a one-year deal to essentially backup Dak Prescott for the 2020 season. Dalton is still decent enough to be a starter somewhere, but this was a weird offseason and that led to him signing with nearby Dallas even if it was a backup job.

Dalton can probably hit the reset button this time next year and be a starter for a team. What teams could use Dalton’s services in 2021?

NFC. North. Chicago Bears. 5. player. Pick Analysis. 57. Scouting Report

This seems unlikely simply because Chicago traded for Nick Foles this offseason and he has a few years left on that contract before the team can opt out without much penalty. That being said, crazier things have happened, and if Foles does get the go ahead to start this year and proves to be nothing more than a high-end backup, the Bears could cut their losses after one year.

If they do that and move on from Mitchell Trubisky, they’ll be once again looking for their next quarterback. The smart thing to do would be to draft one in 2021, but Foles and the Bears defense might be good enough to get the team to 7-9 or 8-8, which wouldn’t guarantee them one of the better options.

That could pave the way for Dalton to land in the Windy City and be their starter in 2021 and maybe even beyond. Again, this scenario seems farfetched seeing how Foles is in Chicago, but the Bears are always going to be in discussions with any free agent quarterback because of the issues they’ve had at the position recently.
