Episodes 7-8 of “The Last Dance” may have been the best ones yet. Here’s what we learned about Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls this week.

From Michael Jordan‘s first NBA retirement to his father’s murder to his turbulent relationship with teammates born of his insanely competitive nature, Episodes 7-8 of The Last Dance provided the most intimate look yet at what made the Chicago Bulls superstar tick.

Not all of the information contained in these episodes was brand new, but the beauty of this 10-part docuseries has been exploring these nearly 30-year-old events through the eyes of those directly involved. It allows Jordan, his teammates and the media members who documented everything to breathe new life into these stories.

That approach not only educates the younger generation of NBA fans who weren’t around for Jordan’s reign, but also reminds those who were around just how significant some of these moments were in retrospect, providing context for the tales that have since been forgotten with the passage of time.

So although not all the stories are new, the context sheds new light on them, and those things we’ve learned are worth re-examining. We’ve already got you covered for the summary and reactions, as well as the best standout quotes, but in case you missed The Last Dance this week (or just feel like reliving it), here are five interesting things Episodes 7-8 illuminated.
