Yankees Rumors: Clint Frazier and 3 others that should be on the trade block
By Ryan Morik
This is not easy to say.
But where is he going to play?
His three options are third base, first base, and left field. Let’s break it down.
Gio Urshela was a nobody. He took over at third base after Andujar tore his rotator cuff, and he randomly went on the be one of the teams most important players in their ALCS run last year. Urshela is also under team control through 2023.
First base has been talked about. Right now, Voit is the starter. Even if Voit were to be traded, it would then probably be Mike Ford’s job to lose.
The outfield was also mentioned previously.
And no, he is not DH’ing over Stanton.
It’s a bummer, but unless Andujar is splitting three positions equally when Urshela, Voit, and insert left fielder here need a day off, there is no permanent spot for him.
Urshela is also without a doubt the better defender. Now, for all we know, Urshela may not come close to what he did last year offensively. In his first 167 games in his career, he slashed .225/.274/.35. Andujar has more offensive talent.
And that is a risk in losing out on Andujar.
But the Yankees have plenty of “next man up” options – except for their rotation. It might be worth it for Brian Cashman to include his name in talks for a starter.
