5 Taulia Tagovailoa transfer predictions: Family reunion in Miami on tap?
By John Buhler
If Tagovailoa wants to win and stay close to his family moving down to Miami, the UCF Knights up in Orlando seem like a pretty good landing spot for him. UCF has been the Group of 5’s New Year’s Six Bowl representative in two of the last three years. The American has been more competitive than the ACC in the last few years and more viable nationally than even the Pac-12.
Though the Knights had a down year relative to their high standard last season, there are several reasons Tagovailoa should consider transferring to UCF. One, Josh Heupel is a tremendous offensive mind and one who will really let the pigskin fly in his offense. He also has a strong recruiting connection to Hawaii as well.
McKenzie Milton and Dillon Gabriel are both native Hawaiians. Milton was the quarterback during the peak of UCF’s heyday under Scott Frost and later Heupel. Gabriel went in and played well last year while Milton was recovering from injury. Though Florida might have a ton of in-state talent, the Knights seem to have a strong quarterbacking pipeline on the other side of the country.
Tagovailoa will only be a few hours away from his family in Florida. Orlando and Miami are major cities, so they’d have no problem flying in or driving up to see him play on Saturday and then watch Tua go to work on Sunday in Hard Rock Stadium. Add in UCF being a nationally relevant Group of 5 team and this could be a great landing spot for the younger Tagovailoa brother.
