5 random players you forgot were on the New York Rangers
By Al Daniel
3. Pascal Dupuis
Between the 2006-07 regular season and playoffs, Dupuis opposed the Rangers almost as many times as he suited up for them. Dealt to Manhattan from Minnesota in mid-February, he stayed with his new team for six games. But by the start of the next calendar month, he was with Atlanta.
Barely three weeks after his 18-day, one-goal, one-point Blueshirt tenure ended, Dupuis faced his former mates on March 16. For him, the reunion was almost as forgettable as the union, as he endured a minus-one rating as part of Atlanta’s 2-1 overtime victory.
Less than a month later, the parties met again, and the Rangers swept the Thrashers out of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. But as it happened, Dupuis tied Keith Tkachuk for the team lead with a goal and two assists in the series.
After sticking with Atlanta for the equivalent of a season, he was traded again to Pittsburgh, where he remained for eight years.
As a Penguin, Dupuis faced the Rangers for his second straight postseason in 2008. The depth forward once again tallied one strike and two helpers in Pittsburgh’s 4-1 second-round victory en route to a berth in the Stanley Cup Final.
Between that, a championship in 2009, and deep runs with the 2003 Wild and 2013 Penguins, Dupuis went to four conference finals in his career. His briefest employer, meanwhile, had last made it that far when he was a rookie in the Quebec Major Junior League in 1997. They did not get there again until 2014.
