2. Chase Young

Edge rusher wasn’t a big need for the Redskins heading into the draft, but they found the talent of Young too much to pass up with the No. 2 overall pick. That puts a lot of pressure on him to live up to the hype in his rookie season.

Young walks into a pretty good situation in terms of his team’s surroundling talent up front. Montez Sweat and Ryan Kerrigan can both cause problems for opposing offense lineman off the edge. Jonathan Allen and Matthew Ioannidis give the Redskins a pair of quality pass rushers at the defensive tackle position.

The presence of so many other quality pass rushers gives Young a strong chance to produce double-digit sacks as a rookie. In fact, anything less than that total would have to qualify as a dissappointment for a player who many draft experts believed was a generational prospect.

Count on Rivera to find a way to get the best out of Young. He won’t be perfect as a rookie, but he’s going to make big plays for this defense. Young is going to be a foundational piece of Rivera’s defense for years to come.
