4. DT Mike Daniels (Detroit Lions)

It took some time for Denver’s defense to get their act together this past season. And that was somewhat of a surprise as the club got off to such a slow start on this side the ball considering the pedigree of head coach Vic Fangio and new coordinator Ed Donatell. The Broncos failed to come up with a sack in their first three contests and did total a takeaway until their fifth outing of 2019.

This off season, the club had some decisions to make in terms of some of their veteran defenders and when it was all said and done, eight-year pro Derek Wolfe was not in the team’s plans and eventually departed for the Baltimore Ravens. Replacing his consistency won’t be easy. He played and started 108 regular-season games for the club after being a second-round selection in 2012 – totaling 33.5 sacks. Of course, John Elway did swing a trade for five-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman Jurrell Casey in an attempt to upgrade the three-man line.

Adding veteran Mike Daniels, late of the Detroit Lions, would also be a solid move. The one-time member of the Green Bay Packers played in a career-low nine games for Matt Patricia’s club in 2019. When healthy, which has been an issue the past two seasons, he could bolster the team’s inconsistent run defense of a year ago.
