Kansas City Chiefs: 5 teams they’ve struggled against in Andy Reid years
Despite the Chiefs getting the last laugh this past season, the tide is only recently turning in favor of Kansas City. The most recent loss to the Patriots came in the 2018 AFC Championship Game where New England’s defense was able to shut down Mahomes and the Chiefs explosive offense in the first half.
It’s worth pointing out that if we’re looking forward, the Chiefs are set up for dominance against the Patriots for the next decade. With Tom Brady in Tampa Bay, the Patriots dynasty appears to be over and the Chiefs are only getting better. It’s fitting, in a way, that the Chiefs would return to dominating the Patriots the way they did when Andy Ried coached his first game against them in Kansas City. That game was the infamous Monday Night Football blowout, where the Chiefs hung 47-points on the Patriots and subjected the world to the first rumblings that the Patriots dynasty was over.
Of course, the dynasty was nowhere near over, as despite the Chiefs winning two more games against the Patriots in the ensuing years, New England won three more Super Bowls. Perhaps more frustratingly, even though the Chiefs were able to tag the Patriots in the regular season, they remain winless against Bill Belichick in the playoffs.
