2. Best NCAA basketball players before Twitter: Tyler Hansbrough, North Carolina

Though now out of the NBA and playing overseas for the Sichuan Blue Whales in China, many forget just how impactful and impressive Tyler Hansbrough was during his time as a North Carolina Tar Heel, but would’ve been a little more known during the Twitter-era.

In his collegiate years, Hansbrough was an absolute star. He was the first player in ACC history to be named first-team All-ACC in all four years of their collegiate career and to be a first-team All-American four times. He was even a consensus first-team pick in three of those seasons. He was named the ACC Rookie of the Year in 2006 and would go on to sweep every national Player of the Year award by 2008.

Hansbrough shattered North Carolina’s all-time career scoring record, surpassing what was a 30-year-old mark at the time. In that same season in 2008, he grabbed his 1,000th career rebound, becoming one of just seven to reach the mark. A fun player on the court to watch with a unique skill set of size, mobility and shooting, Hansbrough would’ve been electric in the Twitter-era, and his record-breaking performances would no doubt have created quite a stir.
