26. Bucky Barnes

James Buchanon Barnes was a patriot in every sense of the word. When the time came to serve his country in a time of war, Bucky, as he is called by friends, answered the call without question. He fought bravely beside Captain America and the Howling Commandoes against HYDRA until the very end, but little did he knew it would just be the beginning of his tragic story.

Shortly after falling to his death, Armin Zola found his body and turned him into the assassin known as the Winter Soldier. Possessing the same strength as Cap and a Vibranium metal arm, this brainwashed warrior was a deadly threat that even Black Widow was afraid of.

Bringing this man back to the good guy side was no easy feat, and an entire civil war broke out over whether or not he should be given a second chance. But when he’s not turning into a soulless killing machine over some trigger words, he is a very loyal friend that has no problem fighting until the very end. Despite having enhanced strength, the lifetime soldier prefers a good old fashioned gun when venturing into battle. Whether or not his future in the MCU entails becoming the next Captain America or the White Wolf is still to be seen. Unfortunately, he has killed a lot of people, including Tony Stark’s parents. Brainwashed or not, those less than favorable indiscretions hold him back from the higher echelons of the MCU superhero rankings.
