1. Florida, 117 five-star recruits in college football since 2000

With a whopping 117 five-stars coming out of the Sunshine State, Florida takes the title of producing the best high school talent in the country.

It shouldn’t be a mystery why Florida, Florida State and Miami have been some of the most dominant college football dynasties in history, all at different points in time. They happen to be right in the dead center of the best high school football talent in the country.

The notable names on the list of five-stars are endless with the likes of Tim Tebow, Derrick Henry, Trent Richardson and Patrick Peterson headlining the group.

Of all of the schools that compete for this talent, Florida State leads the pack as they have secured 30 of those recruits, followed by Florida with 20, Miami with 15 and Alabama with 13.

This came as a surprise to me as I figured Florida would take the top seat. But the Bowden years combined with few strong years from Jimbo Fisher and the debacle of the Jim McElwain era at Florida give the Seminoles an advantage.

It is worth noting that these five-stars only go back to 2000, before the dominant Miami classes that saw the Hurricanes on top of the college football world in the early 2000s. If this had been tracked just a few years earlier, it would more than likely be Miami in the No. 2 spot in the state.

Today with the rise of schools like Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, and even Ohio State in recruiting, the Florida schools have taken a dip in dominance. But given the talent seemingly coming out of the state every year, it is inevitable that one of these schools will rise to the top again.
