4 dream trades for Dallas Cowboys before training camp
1. Landing Yannick Ngakoue
The biggest question about the Cowboys heading into 2020 isn’t whether or not Dak Prescott is going to get paid. Instead, fans in Dallas should spend more time worrying about whether or not their defense can rush the passer.
Demarcus Lawrence is coming off a down year and the coaching staff has every right to be concerned about his production moving forward. The options at the other defensive end position are even less inspiring. Counting on Aldon Smith to revive his career after multiple seasons away from the NFL feels more like a hope than an actual plan.
That’s why the Cowboys need to call the Jaguars to find a way to pry Yannick Ngakoue away from Jacksonville. He has zero interest in playing another snap for the franchise. Presumably he’d be excited about the chance to move to a potential Super Bowl contender.
There’s no reason for the Jaguars to give Ngakoue up for anything less than one first round pick. That, coupled with the potential cost to re-sign him has a lot of teams wary of making the move.
The Cowboys shouldn’t be afraid of making the investment. He’s a bona fide Pro Bowler at their biggest position of need. He’s just the sort of player they should be pushing all their chips into the middle of the table to acquire. Keep a close eye on the Cowboys as a team that might strike quickly for Ngakoue as training camp approaches.
