Ohio State football team makes powerful video calling for change

Ohio State football will not remain silent any longer.

With the events surrounding George Floyd’s murder by a Minneapolis police officer, many people in this great country of ours have grown sick of racial injustice plaguing it. Our black brothers and sisters need us more than ever in these trying times, as everyone is affected by this.

The Ohio State football team created a powerful video message on Monday night to help start your Tuesday off on a positive note, as we continue on in our battle to fight for change. From quarterback Justin Fields, to wide receiver Chris Olave, to head coach Ryan Day, Ohio State shows strength in unity with their statement to the world.

“Don’t ignore George Floyd. His senseless killing at the hands of law enforcement has shaken this nation at its core. His death, along with countless others, has once again brought these injustices to the forefront of our society. For far too long, Black Americans have suffered under systems of racism and oppression. This time, it’s different. This time we’ve had enough.”

“As members of the Ohio State football team, we have a platform not only in Central Ohio, but around the globe. With this platform, it is our duty to promote awareness and evoke change. We will no longer stand silent as these issues continue to plague our friends, citizens, neighbors, and teammates.”

“We stand in solidarity with the black community and equal rights for all. This is not white versus black. This is everyone against racism. As a team, we’ve committed ourselves to fight for change. And now, we’re asking for you to join us.”

Ohio State not only represents Central Ohio, but the entire state, as well as a huge part of the Midwest. The Buckeyes are the only Power 5 university in Ohio and the preeminent college football team in the Big Ten. In short, their reach is massive. This is one of college football’s undeniable blue-blood programs with one of the largest fan bases in the country.

Their message was heard loud and clear.

It’s only Day’s second year leading the team, but you can tell he’s the perfect man to coach this football team and represent this university. He has the complete support of his players and is willing fight for them and the causes his team proudly believes in. Ohio State is lucky to have a man like Coach Day leading the way.

Ohio State’s message is unified, unwavering and undeniable. “It’s everyone against racism”.
