5. Green Bay Packers

This pick is a bit risky since there is some serious bust potential for the Green Bay Packers. After going 13-3 to win the NFC North a year ago, the Packers got run over by the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game, raising questions about the legitimacy of their record.

Green Bay found themselves coming out on top in a lot of close games, results that could flip the other direction with a few unlucky bounces of the football. The offseason was also strange for the Packers, who didn’t address their need for a wide receiver in the deepest draft class ever, instead choosing Jordan Love to secure their future at quarterback.

The Love choice likely ticked off Aaron Rodgers, who will now be on a mission to prove that he has plenty of good football left for the Packers. That is a big win for Green Bay, which could use a highly-motivated Rodgers to maintain their supremacy in the division.

The Packers’ strong defense remains a big difference-maker and should easily get them back into the playoffs. The 49ers remain a big obstacle, but if someone takes care of San Francisco along the way there’s every chance the Packers could emerge from the chaos as the NFC champion to bring the Lombardi Trophy back home to Lambeau Field.
