Penn State football schedule 2020: Predicting every Nittany Lions game
October will determine if Penn State football is a pretender or contender.
Oct. 3 at Michigan
Penn State and Michigan have been going back-and-forth the past four seasons, with the home team winning each matchup in this newly founded and underrated rivalry. The Wolverines are surrounded by many questions on how their season will play out, while Penn State’s season seems to be more clear than ever. The atmosphere of playing in the Big House will keep Michigan in this one throughout most of the game but the balance of Penn State’s game plan proves to be too much for the Wolverines. Penn State, 31-20.
Oct. 10 Bye
Oct. 17 vs Iowa
The last three meetings between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Penn State have been fun to watch. Penn State has won all three but just by a combined 13 points, extending their series streak to six straight wins over the Hawkeyes. Iowa is one of those teams that no one really knows what to expect until they actually hit the field so this might be one of the hardest games to predict. Nonetheless, Penn State is primed for another run at the Playoff and barring a huge meltdown, should take care of business. Penn State, 37 to 17.
Oct. 24 vs Ohio State
Penn State has missed out on the College Football Playoff the last three seasons, with their three losses to Ohio State as the biggest factor. 2017 and 2018 still make Penn State fans’ stomachs turn while 2019 sent them on a rollercoaster of emotions, so they know that they are in for another ride with their White Out game vs the Buckeyes this season. This game stays close throughout but the Buckeyes get the best of Penn State once again, handing the Nittany Lions their first loss. Buckeyes, 38-34.
Oct. 31 at Indiana
Following a tough loss, the Nittany Lions go on the road to take on the Indiana Hoosiers. Indiana has been known to play the Big East’s top dogs pretty close at home in recent years and following their first winning season since 2007, Indiana looks to build off that success. But this is the wrong time to play Penn State, who will still be very much alive for a spot in the College Football Playoff with just one loss at this point of the season. Penn State plays with purpose and runs away with this one. Penn State, 45-10.
