Who is the best quarterback to ever suit up for each NFL team?

The pause in the sports world has led to plenty of time for reflection about the history of sports. One interesting thought experiment is to consider who the best NFL quarterback to ever play for each franchise is.

FanSided has taken the time to identify the greatest passer for each franchise, which we will break down starting with the Arizona Cardinals.

Arizona Cardinals: Jim Hart (1966-1983)

The Cardinals are one of the NFL’s two oldest franchises but they haven’t had much luck with quarterbacks. The franchise’s best passer came in the St. Louis days when Jim Hart was under center for 17 years.

Hart made four Pro Bowls and leads the Cardinals in all passing categories, but only made one playoff appearance in his tenure.

Atlanta Falcons: Matt Ryan (2008-Present)

Atlanta also hasn’t much luck with quarterbacks but they struck gold with Matt Ryan in 2008. Ryan has taken the Falcons to the playoffs six times, won the NFL MVP award in 2016 and took Atlanta to the Super Bowl that year.

If the Falcons held onto that 28-3 lead over New England we could be looking at a potential Hall-of-Fame trajectory for Matty Ice.

Baltimore Ravens: Joe Flacco (2008-2018)

Drafted in the same class as Ryan, Joe Flacco has something that Ryan doesn’t: a championship ring. Flacco started from Day 1 in Baltimore and guided the Ravens to six playoff appearances while offering steady production under center.

The Ravens moved on from Flacco after the 2018 season but it will take Lamar Jackson a while to match Flacco’s accomplishments in Baltimore.

Buffalo Bills: Jim Kelly (1986-1996)

This is a no brainer as Jim Kelly is easily the best quarterback the Buffalo Bills have ever had. Kelly transformed the Bills’ offense into a dynamo from the moment he arrived in 1986, going to five Pro Bowls and leading Buffalo to four straight Super Bowls in the early 1990s.

The fact the Bills didn’t win any of them shouldn’t weigh against Kelly, who sailed into the Hall-of-Fame in 2002.
