Nebraska football schedule 2020: Predicting every Nebraska Cornhuskers game

November could not have been crueler to Nebraska football in 2020.

Nov. 7: Penn State Nittany Lions

That Ohio State loss will carry over into the first week of November. No matter what Scott Frost tries to tell his team, the Cornhuskers mail it in and don’t show up for their home game vs. the Penn State Nittany Lions. It’s a bloodbath alright, but it’s a loss that feels like quicksand more than anything for Big Red. It shows Nebraska isn’t close to being back yet. Penn State, 42-21.

Nov. 14: at Iowa Hawkeyes (Iowa City, IA)

Had this game been at Memorial Stadium, Nebraska would have likely won this. But with it being a road date at the always-tough Kinnick Stadium, the Iowa Hawkeyes prevail in the fourth quarter. With Nebraska charged up and driving for the game-winning score, Adrian Martinez gets pick-sixed on a tipped pass. It’s still a loss, but one we really don’t blame them for. Iowa, 30-20.

Nov. 21: at Wisconsin Badgers (Madison, WI)

Despite falling to 7-3 on the year, Nebraska feels it got more things right than wrong in the Iowa loss. Too bad it has to go to Madison and face the Wisconsin Badgers with a division title on the line. Paul Chryst’s team knows it punches a ticket to Indianapolis with a victory over the Big Red. The score ends up being closer than what the game would indicate. Wisconsin, 37-23.

Nov. 28: Minnesota Golden Gophers

Riding a four-game losing streak, Scott Frost’s team wants to end the regular season on a winning note in the worst way possible. Too bad P.J. Fleck’s Minnesota Golden Gophers have a shot at a 10-win season and a New Year’s Six bowl bid on the line. The Blackshirts get carved up by one Tanner Morgan to Rashod Bateman touchdown strike after another. Minnesota, 45-28.

Pinstripe Bowl vs. Florida State Seminoles (The Bronx, NYC)

In a year of streaks, Nebraska goes 7-5 (4-5) during the regular season. The Cornhuskers will face another 7-5 rebuilding team in the Florida State Seminoles. Though Mike Norvell did a better job of coaching up his team this fall than Frost, there is no way the Cornhuskers are ending their season on a losing note. Florida State keeps it close, but Nebraska is victorious. Nebraska, 34-20.

Ultimately, Nebraska will very much have the feel of the 2019 Texas A&M Aggies under Jimbo Fisher. The Cornhuskers face an absolutely brutal end to their season schedule. Some defeats were more respectable than others, but Nebraska did make progress this season by achieving bowl eligibility, as well as beating Florida State in the Pinstripe Bowl up in Yankee Stadium.

Prediction: 8-5 (4-5), Fourth Place in Big Ten West
