Here is Justyn Ross rehabbing two weeks after having had neck surgery.

Justyn Ross is committed to getting back on the field for Clemson football.

The talented wide receiver from Phenix City, Alabama will have to miss the upcoming 2020 college football season, as he underwent neck surgery two weeks ago. Ross was the best returning wideout for Dabo Swinney’s football team. The true junior would have been quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s favorite receiving target this fall with Tee Higgins having turned pro this spring.

Clemson will still be a College Football Playoff favorite this year, as the Tigers have depth at the receiving corps to offset Ross’ loss for the season. Though Ross’ football career might now be in jeopardy, he is already doing everything in his power to return to the field for Clemson in 2021. Here he is doing some rehab work running in a pool two weeks after undergoing surgery.

You can see Ross running in place wearing a visible neck brace. His spinal condition may end up preventing him from playing another snap of football, but you have to applaud him for taking his rehab this seriously and getting after it right away. It’s the competitive firepower we’ve come to expect out of the many football greats who have starred at Clemson under Swinney.

Justyn Ross has already begun his rehab two weeks after neck surgery.

Had Ross had a clean bill of health, he would have been a sure-fire first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He was the No. 1 player in the state of Alabama in the 2018 recruiting class and poised to be the next superstar Clemson wide receiver in his junior year. Frankly, he already was that in his first two years with the program, as he had 112 catches for 1,865 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Technically, Ross could enter the draft this spring, but he will no longer be a first-round pick because of major medical concerns. He could go in day three, or he might unfortunately go undrafted. While he rehabs at Clemson, Ross can work on his degree and get ready for a life outside of playing in the NFL if that proves to be the case.

Should Ross return to the ACC gridiron in 2021, it’ll be a huge deal for the redshirt junior. While we would love to see him succeed playing the game he clearly loves, we’re going to cringe every time he gets tackled and doesn’t pop up right away. His health is the most important thing here.

While it remains to be seen if he will play again, Ross is attacking his rehab with great passion.
