Georgia are favorites to land 5-star recruit James Williams over Alabama and Clemson

Five-star athlete James Williams could be making a commitment soon and all signs are pointing to Georgia.

How does the nation’s No. 1 ranked athlete in the country sound for the 2021 recruiting class, Georgia fans? As things stand, all signs are pointing to Opa Locka, Fla. five-star standout James Williams giving his verbal to Kirby Smart and his assistants.

Williams, who stars for Western High and checks in at 6-foot-5, 218 pounds, has picked up nearly 30 scholarship offers thus far this cycle. However, all of the crystal ball picks for him on 247Sports are in Georgia’s favor, with Bulldogs’ insider Rusty Mansell putting in his pick this week.

Alabama and Georgia have been mentioned as the frontrunners to land Williams’ services of late, but Georgia continues to pick up more and more steam.

They’ve been recruiting the Florida product for a while now and have made it clear to him that he could be a true playmaker if he were to take his talents to Athens. While he could play either offense or defense at the next level, Georgia likes him at safety.

In addition to Georgia and Alabama, Williams has also been offered by Miami, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Oregon, Ole Miss and many others. Not only is he the nation’s No. 1 athlete, but 247Sports lists him as the No. 10 player in the country for the 2021 class. Whoever ends up landing his signature in December will be one lucky program. Will it be Georgia?

With his tweet on June 17, Williams teased a potential commitment coming in the near future. While he named a Top 3 of Georgia, Alabama and Clemson back in February, the feeling is that the Bulldogs are going to come out on top.

After signing the nation’s top-ranked class in 2020, the Bulldogs are well on their way to having another memorable group come in for 2021. Adding Williams will only help their chances of finishing at the top of the team rankings once again.
