Lincoln Riley and the Sooners just won a major recruiting battle for a 6-foot-7 end.

Ever since he took over the reins at Oklahoma, Lincoln Riley has been an ace recruiter. Even more exciting for Sooners fans, his assistants have been outstanding out on the trail, hauling in some big-time recruits in recent years.

That trend continued on Wednesday, as four-star defensive end Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge announced his commitment to Oklahoma. Rawlins-Kibonge, who is also a star basketball player, is ranked the No. 10 strong-side defensive end in the country per 247Sports.

In addition to Oklahoma, Rawlins-Kibonge had offers from Arizona State, Boise State, Washington State, Colorado, Cal, Miami, Nebraska, Stanford, Tennessee, Washington and others. In the end, though, Oklahoma’s standout job in recruiting him and selling him on all the great things Norman, Okla. has to offer won him over.

Who is Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge and why should Sooners fans be hyped?

Rawlins-Kibonge is an interesting prospect, as he’s hoping to play both football and basketball at the next level. He was actually previously committed to Washington State as a hoops target. He gave WSU and head coach Kyle Smith his verbal pledge over the summer. However, he hit the gridiron for Jefferson High in Portland in the fall and saw his recruitment explode for football.

This of course caused him to re-think his future, ultimately opening the door for the Sooners to come in and not only offer him a scholarship but eventually land his commitment as well.

With his size and outstanding athletic ability, Sooners fans already have high hopes for Rawlins-Kibonge as soon as he arrives on campus in 2021.

This is just another example of Riley and his staff reaching out far and wide to land some of their top targets across the country. Oklahoma strikes again.
