Ohio State football is hoping the nation’s No. 1 receiver will pick the Buckeyes.

With a name like Emeka Egbuka, you already know this kid was destined for greatness. As it turns out, he’s an incredible wide receiver, with the Ohio State Buckeyes hoping they can secure his talents as part of their already loaded 2021 class.

The five-star recruit is the No. 8 overall recruit and the No. 1 wide receiver in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The Buckeyes have a high interest in the talent from Washington state, and the feeling is certainly mutual. Will it eventually lead to Egbuka leaving the northwest and heading to Ohio?

The one five-star recruit that Ryan Day and Ohio State football can’t afford to miss in the 2021 recruiting class is the nation’s No. 1 ranked receiver.

The speedster recently announced a top four of Ohio State, Oklahoma, Clemson and the home-state Washington Huskies. With Ohio State, Egbuka took an unofficial visit to Columbus last March, and as you might imagine, he was left blown away with the experience.

He had hopes of visiting this spring/summer but was unable to due to the coronavirus pandemic shutting down recruiting visits for the time being. Still, that hasn’t stopped multiple recruiting experts from predicting Egbuka to end up signing with Ohio State.

On 247Sports, eight Crystal Ball predictions have been locked in favoring the Buckeyes. If Egbuka does end up committing, it’d no doubt be an incredible get for Ryan Day and his coaches.

Last season, the 6-1, 190-pounder put up video game-type numbers, posting 83 receptions for 1,607 yards and 25 touchdowns. On defense, he added 36 tackles and eight interceptions.

As of this writing, Ohio State has the No. 1 recruiting class for 2021. Day has received 19 verbal pledges, with four of them coming from five-star targets. For now, we’ll have to wait and see if Egbuka adds his name to that list. You can expect Buckeyes fans to go crazy on social media if that ends up happening.
