7. Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart aren’t coming through that door for USC.

The USC Trojans had an unforgettable run with Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush that’s hard for any of us to forget, no matter what NCAA sanctions tell us to do. In fact, just days ago the Trojans welcomed Bush back into the “USC Family” after a 10-year disassociation. It makes a lot of sense that fans would be living in the past at this moment, but it’s been this way since that run ended in 2008.

Pete Carroll left for the Seattle Seahawks before the 2010 season, and Lane Kiffin took over. Do we need to go over what happened there? Boy, was it bad. Since then, Kiffen left to leave behind interim coaches, which we’ll touch on in a second. Then Steve Sarkisian was a complete and utter disaster. Clay Helton is now the coach with the hottest seat in the entire country. By the way, one of those interim coaches was Ed Orgeron. If his name sounds familiar, it’s because he’s the head coach of the National Champion LSU Tigers.

So, clearly there’s a reason we’re living in the past in Southern California. The Trojans have not had a lot of time pulling themselves from the bottom, but it’s been a helluva ride while they’ve been here. The past two years have been full of despair. They ended both years unranked and fans seemingly can’t wait to fire Clay Helton. There’s just a lot going on, and it’s much better for Trojans fans to live in the past rather than deal with what’s happening in the present.
