Pick Analysis. WR. 2. Scouting Report. (2014-16). Artavis Scott. player. 879

Artavis Scott was a favorite target of Deshaun Watson at Clemson.

Clemson has become one of the best hotbeds for wide receiving talent in college football. From DeAndre Hopkins to Sammy Watkins, Swinney’s coaching has really helped this position group flourish in the last decade-plus. One player who came in and made an immediate impact as a freshman in 2014 was Artavis Scott. Sadly, he’s become underrated in just three seasons.

Scott had 76 catches for 965 yards and eight touchdowns during his freshman campaign. Though he never recreated that first-year magic at Clemson, Scott was a productive player in his final two seasons playing for the Tigers. In 2015, he had 93 catches for 901 yards and six touchdowns, as Clemson made the College Football Playoff and nearly won a national title.

As a junior in 2016, Scott was part of Clemson’s second national championship-winning team in school history. He ended up with 76 catches for 614 yards and five touchdowns in what was his final college season. Scott left Clemson with 245 career receptions for 2,480 receiving yards and 18 touchdown catches. He went undrafted in 2017, despite declaring a year early.

Scott spent the last three seasons on the Los Angeles Chargers’ practice squad. He has since signed a futures contract with the Indianapolis Colts. Given his working relationship and familiar with new Colts starting quarterback Philip Rivers, maybe Scott finally gets on the field in his fourth NFL season? We’re still waiting for him to make an impact at the NFL level like he did in college.
