Multiple positive COVID-19 tests in WWE
Multiple talent members test positive for COVID-19
The wrestling industry has been pushed to a near halt during the COVID-19 pandemic.
WWE found a way to continue operating even though there were concerns about the ability to stay safe in Florida. Unfortunately, news broke on Tuesday that multiple people within the WWE have tested positive for COVID-19.
Ryan Satin broke the news first on Wednesday. According to Satin, at least three individuals have tested positive and each of them have been present at the WWE Performance Center where weekly tapings are held. This is the third time in as many months that the organization has dealt with this situation.
“WWE will continue COVID-19 testing of its talent, production crew and employees in advance of TV productions for the foreseeable future,” as reported by Adam Silverstein of CBS Sports.
Third positive test for WWE
Earlier in June the company had to halt taping when a talent member tested positive for the condition. This caused the WWE to halt production until further testing could be completed. Kevin Owens, one of the biggest stars in the promotion, opted to skip tapings this week considering the news of that June 15 positive test. That June positive test was the second individual on the roster to test positive for the condition.
This comes at a time in which many U.S. cities are going through a steady increase of COVID-19 cases. Florida, where WWE programming is currently produced, is one of the hardest hit states in the country.
