New York Giants: LB David Mayo

He was a key reserve for many years with the Panthers and after signing with the 49ers last offseason, was released and joined Big Blue. He made a career-best 13 starts and finished tied for second on the team with 80 tackles, along with two sacks. The Giants’ defense has struggled in recent years but David Mayo is a bright spot.

New York Jets: QB Sam Darnold

Two seasons into his NFL career and it’s hard to tell exactly what the New York Jets have in the third overall pick from 2018. Sam Darnold missed three games in each of his first two seasons for various reasons and there have been almost as many turnovers (33) as TD passes (36). But his strong finish in 2019 is something to build on.

Philadelphia Eagles: OLB Nathan Gerry

The Eagles made a big move this offseason and added three-time Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay in a trade with the Lions. And if three-year pro Nathan Gerry picks up where he left off in 2019, things will continue to look up. In his first season as a primary starter, there were 72 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions and five passes defensed.
