10 bold predictions for the 2020 NFL season
Adam Gase is the first head coach to be fired
Two years ago, the New York Jets franchise made Adam Gase their head coach, despite the fact that he had been run out of town by division rival Miami. We can all remember him with his eye bulging out of his head during his introductory press conference, and that was just a sign of what was a bad first year in New York.
The Jets not only struggled on the field, as quarterback Sam Darnold battled mono early on, and there was also off the field issues with stars like Kelechi Osemele, Jamal Adams, and big money free agent Le’Veon Bell. Overall, Gase struggled to control his locker room, and on the field, the team won only seven games.
The whole debacle with Osemele and Adams showed a lot about Gase’s leadership, and he has never really had the backing of his players in his two stops as a head coach. The Jets need to change the culture of the organization, and if they get out to a slow start, Gase will be shown the door.
New York has talent on both sides of the ball, and the AFC East is going to be wide open this season. They have been building for this moment, when they can overtake the New England Patriots, but Gase as the head coach is a serious question mark.
