Left-handed slugger Kyle Schwarber had an incredible second half of the 2019 season that was outshined by Nicholas Castellanos bursting onto the scene after the Cubs deadline trade with the Tigers. But despite Castellanos getting many of the headlines, Schwarber quietly had one of his best seasons in the majors.

With a .997 OPS and 151 wRC+ in the second half of 2019, Schwarber showed off his impressive strength at the plate smashing 20 home runs after the All-Star break and finished the year with 38 homers. But Schwarber was also hitting for average last season, jumping from a .227 average in the first half to .280 in the second half, as the 27-year-old did a better job of avoiding strikeouts and extending at-bats.

But while his bat will always be his best asset, Schwarber has developed into a serviceable outfielder with a strong arm in left field. And while the DH is still great news for the Cubs, expect Schwarber to play the majority of his games in the field this season.
