NBA Mock Draft 5.0: How high can Obi Toppin fly?

For the first time in forever, Bulls fans will be dancing through the night. A new front office regime is in place and this draft will be the first real opportunity to see what they value and how that manifests in terms of shaping the roster. On paper, the Bulls had a tremendous pool of offensive talent — led by Coby White, Lauri Markkanen and Zach LaVine. In practicality, they were one of the least efficient offenses in the league, something that could be explained, at least partially, by the strategy of head coach Jim Boylen. A coaching change should help juice the offense and improving on the other end of the court will be more about personnel.

Okoro is the best defensive prospect in this class and uniquely versatile, thanks to his elite strength and frame — 6-foot-6, 225 pounds, with a 6-foot-9 wingspan. He’s a defender with special physical tools and the awareness and effort to match, the kind of cog who can help lift the team’s floor and plug all sorts of matchup-specific holes. He’s not much of a shooter but has potential as a secondary-creator and could certainly work for Chicago as a ball-mover and transition threat.
