The Chicago Bears are poised for a bounce-back season after last year’s debacle.

Last season, the Chicago Bears were expected to take a step in the right direction. Instead, the team was one of the most disappointing teams in the league. They went from division winner to .500 in one season. After starting the season 3-1, they lost four in a row and nothing was the same after that. What might be even worse than the record is the fact they lost both games to their biggest rival.

The Green Bay Packers beat Chicago both times they played, including the first game of the season where Chicago scored just three points. At every turn, the Bears faltered in every possible way. There were fourth-quarter blown leads, complete blowouts, offensive explosions, and defensive battles lost. The rushing attack had as many 100-yard games as games where they couldn’t break 20 yards. Let’s not even get started on Mitch Trubisky (we’ll get to him later). The defense was still really good, just not “best in the league” good.

The NFC North is an interesting division to look at. The Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers are both +175 to win the division, with the Bears trailing at +225. The Lions come up the back at +900. The odds show the Bears are third in the division, but it’s pretty close across the board.

With something so close, just a few adjustments could help the Bears claim the division title. With as much talent as the Bears have, they could easily win the NFC North. All they have to do is have these five scenarios go right.
