18. San Antonio Spurs: DeMar DeRozan and LaMarcus Aldridge

The strengths of this pair certainly play up in 2-on-2, but the weaknesses do too. Both are able to get buckets from unique spots, which helps in a game where you just need points, but a spaced floor puts both at risk of being exposed defensively.

Their style will be very much about dragging out mismatches. Both are more than comfortable taking their men to the weight room if possible, though some of those fadeaways may prove too inefficient even for a two-man game. You know exactly what to expect from DeRozan and Aldridge, for better or worse.

17. New Orleans Pelicans: Jrue Holiday and Zion Williamson

The Pelicans might be the biggest wild card of this whole exercise, mainly because Williamson himself is a relative unknown. We know what we’ll get from Holiday, a legitimate two-way guard who can set the tone on offense and cover the perimeter defensively.

Williamson is less of a certainty; he could completely swallow up his man and post gaudy stocks (steals plus blocks), but he could also be a “tweener” who’s too slow for wings and not stout enough for post bigs. The bet is that his ridiculous finishing, which will be effective against all kinds of opponents, outweighs those concerns.
