The most overrated college football teams from every Power 5 conference.

Every season, college football teams go into the season with an insane amount of hype but end up falling way short of expectations. Just look at last season. Texas A&M was ranked 11th in the preseason Top 25, but they ended the season unranked. The same goes for preseason number 14 Washington. Virginia Tech, Missouri, Michigan State, and Northwestern all went unranked after finding themselves in the Top 25 preseason.

Right now, we’re still waiting for official Top 25s from the NCAA or the AP, but we have betting odds on just about every Power 5 team in college football. Some of the odds really stuck out for putting insane odds on certain teams. This is going to be a strange year in college football with the Covid-19 pandemic throwing things for a loop. Having crazy low odds this season might be a major red flag.

We take a look at each Power 5 Conference to see which teams are getting a little too much love. Some of these teams are the favorite in their division when they shouldn’t be, while others might be traditional powerhouses that we think are in for a less-than-stellar showing. Being on this list might mean this team could be in for a terrible season or they could just fall below expectations. Either way, we just see them as a terrible bet to win their conference.

Even favorites can be bad bets. They might be the most obvious choice to win, but that doesn’t mean they are deserving of minus money here. Honestly, there’s only one team in the country that should be getting those automatic vibes, and that’s Clemson. That doesn’t even mean they might not be overrated, but bringing back the team they did in the wildly weak ACC, it’s hard to think of a scenario where they don’t win.

Other than that, there’s a lot to be decided. There are heavy favorites we think will win and others that we see losing. Then, these five teams are the ones you should avoid betting on at all costs.
